User Guide

How to use Keesa on the web and on Android. Currency: AFN.

Welcome to Keesa

Keesa is your personal money manager — built to track daily expenses and income, keep your real bank balance up to date, remember who owes you money (or who you owe), and even keep a diary or quick notes, all in one place.

Keesa is available in two ways, and they always show the same data:

  • •On the web, at keesa-navy.vercel.app — works in any browser, on your phone or computer.
  • •As an Android app, installed directly on your phone.

Everything you add on one — the web or the app — appears instantly on the other, since they share the same account.

Account & Signing In

Signing up

On the web, tap “Get Started Free” from the homepage, or “Sign Up” on the login screen. In the app, open it and choose the “Sign Up” tab. Enter your email and a password (at least 6 characters), then tap Create Account. If your account needs email confirmation, you’ll be asked to check your inbox before signing in — otherwise you’ll be taken straight into Keesa.

Signing in

Open the Sign In tab, enter your email and password, and tap Sign In. Your session stays active until you sign out.

Signing out

On the web, tap your profile picture (top right) and choose Sign Out. In the app, open Settings and tap Sign Out at the bottom.

The Dashboard

The Dashboard is the first thing you see — a snapshot of your money right now.

Current Balance

Shows your net balance (everything you’ve earned minus everything you’ve spent), with a quick breakdown of total income and total expenses underneath.

Bank Card

A card showing your real bank balance, separate from the Current Balance above. If you haven’t set one up yet, you’ll see an “Add Card” prompt instead.

  • •Add Card: enter your bank’s name, your name, and your current balance to get started.
  • •Deposit / Withdraw: record money going into or out of the account. Each one is also automatically logged as income or an expense, so your Current Balance updates too — you never have to enter the same thing twice.
  • •Edit: change the bank name or account holder name (doesn’t affect the balance).

This Week Spend

A bar chart of your spending for each day this week, plus a running total. Underneath it, three small stats: your average daily spend, how this week compares to last week, and a short trend line over the last several weeks.

Quick Actions

A grid of your expense categories — tap one to jump straight into adding an expense in that category, without typing anything extra.

Latest / Recent Activity

Your most recent transactions, so you can see at a glance what you’ve entered lately.

Adding Expenses & Income

Tap the gold + button (on the web, in the top bar or the bottom-right corner on mobile view; in the app, the round button at the bottom of the screen).

  • •Choose Expense or Income using the toggle at the top.
  • •Enter a title (e.g. “Home Electricity Bill” or “Monthly Salary”).
  • •Enter the amount in AFN.
  • •Pick a category (for expenses) or a source (for income).
  • •Pick the date — it doesn’t have to be today.
  • •Save.

Every expense/income entry needs a category. If none show up, you probably need to add one first — see Categories below.

Categories

Categories organize your expenses and income, each with its own icon and color. When your account was created, a starter set was added automatically — things like Home, Gas, Shopping, Salary, and Freelance — but they’re entirely yours to change. Manage them from Settings → Categories on either platform.

  • •Switch between the Expense and Income tabs to see each list.
  • •Tap + Add to create a new one — give it a name, pick a color, and pick an icon.
  • •Tap any existing category to edit its name, color, or icon.
  • •Deleting a category is safe — past transactions that used it keep their title and amount, they just won’t show the colored icon anymore.

Transactions

A full, searchable history of everything you’ve entered.

  • •Use the search box to find something by title or category.
  • •Use the filter tabs to narrow the list down to just Expenses or just Income.

On the web, this list also includes your Loans, with an extra filter tab for them — see “Web vs. Mobile App” below.

Your Bank Card

Covered in the Dashboard section above — this is the one place your actual bank balance lives in Keesa, kept accurate through Deposit and Withdraw actions rather than manual edits.

Loans — Money & Items

Keep track of money and things you’ve borrowed or lent, organized by person.

People

  • •Add a person with their name, and optionally a phone number and a note.
  • •Tap a person to see only their records — useful when someone owes you multiple things.
  • •Edit or remove a person any time. Removing them keeps their loan history, it just unlinks it from a profile.

Money Loans

  • •“I Borrowed” — money you owe someone.
  • •“I Lent” — money someone owes you.
  • •Outstanding until marked Settled; settled ones move to their own section and can be reopened.
  • •Three summary numbers at the top: You Owe, Owed to You, and the Net of the two.

Item Loans

For physical things — a book, a tool, a bag of sugar — not just money.

  • •“Borrowed” — something of theirs you’re holding.
  • •“Lent” — something of yours they’re holding.
  • •Add a quantity if it’s useful (e.g. “1 kg”, “2 pcs”).
  • •Mark an item Returned once it’s back, or Reopen it if that was a mistake.

Notes

A flexible space for anything that isn’t money — a diary entry, a short story, a quick note, or a reminder.

  • •Pick a type when creating a note: Diary, Story, Note, or Reminder — each has its own icon and color.
  • •Pin a note to keep it at the top of the list.
  • •Search by title or content, or filter by type.
  • •Tap any note to open it for editing.

Notifications

The bell icon checks your last 7 days of expenses and flags anything unusually large (currently, 3,000 AFN or more), so nothing big slips by unnoticed. Tap it to see the list.

Settings & Profile

  • •Profile: change your display name, upload a profile photo via the camera icon on your avatar.
  • •Password: enter a new one (6+ characters) and save.
  • •Categories: see above.
  • •Sign Out: ends your session on this device.

Light & Dark Mode

On the web: tap the moon/sun icon in the top bar (or find it in your profile menu on smaller screens). In the Android app: Settings → Appearance, where you can choose Light, Dark, or System (follows your phone’s own setting automatically).

Web vs. Mobile App — What’s Different

Almost everything works identically on both, since they share the same account and data. A few small differences:

FeatureWebAndroid App
Transactions listIncludes Expenses, Income, and Loans togetherIncludes Expenses and Income only
Invoices / CSV exportAvailable (pick a date range, download a spreadsheet)Not currently available
LayoutSidebar navigation on larger screensBottom navigation bar with a center + button

Everything else — expenses, income, the bank card, loans, people, notes, categories, and settings — works the same way on both.

Tips & Frequently Asked Questions

What currency does Keesa use?

Afghani (AFN) only, throughout the app.

If I add something on my phone, will it show up on the website?

Yes, immediately — as long as you’re signed into the same account on both.

Does depositing to my bank card count as income?

Yes — a deposit is automatically logged as income, and a withdrawal as an expense, so your Current Balance always reflects your bank card too, without double entry.

What happens if I delete a category or a person?

Their past transactions or loan records aren’t deleted — they just lose the link to that category’s icon/color, or that person’s profile. Nothing in your history disappears.

Can I use more than one bank card?

Not currently — Keesa supports one bank card per account.

Getting the Android App

Download the Keesa Android app from the link on the Keesa website. Since it isn’t distributed through the Google Play Store yet, your phone may show an “Install unknown apps” warning the first time — this is expected; allow it to proceed with the install.

Keesa works great on mobile web too, if you’d rather not install anything — just open the website in your phone’s browser.
